“Designed for the grand reopening of the California Academy of Sciences, the Islands of Evolution exhibit examined various research expeditions in Galápagos and Madagascar through the lens of evolution. The exhibit modules were developed from a standardized kit of parts—including direct-to-ply prints, low-energy LED light boxes, A/V and specimens—creating a nonlinear, contemporary cabinet of curiosities. We co-opted the scientific specimen box as a method of organizing disparate content that rewards visitors whether they have two minutes or two hours to spend on it. Visitors also benefit from views through the transparent materials and openings that encourage human interaction.”
