Images of the 442nd. Through a grant funded by the Regional Arts and Culture Council and assistance from Oregon Nikkei Endowment, Oregonian photographer Motoya Nakamura produced an exhibition documenting and honoring the veterans and families of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. It explains the legacy of Japanese American WWII veterans who fought prejudice on two fronts: Europe and home. The project honored those veterans, a segregated unit open to Japanese Americans, who fought on the front lines in Europe while their families were confined to internment camps back in the United States.
