An HIV+ diagnosis is not a death sentence. Conceptualized in conjunction with creative agency GSD&M, Walgreens’s new site empowers people with HIV by showing them that they don’t have to live a lifetime of emotional struggle. Titled “Let’s Grow Old Together,” the site reflects the importance of caring and supporting HIV+ people at every milestone of their life journey. Presented in an introductory animation, a timeline provides the key navigation system, carrying visitors through each step from an HIV diagnosis to planning for the future. Clear signifiers throughout the site and a seamless scroll eliminate any navigational uncertainties.
Creative production partners MediaMonks helped design, develop and produce content for the site, which includes 40 videos, 7 audio clips and 300 files. Basic content is loaded prior to each landing page, enabling quick navigation throughout all pages and galleries; individual media, such as video content, are loaded upon interaction. Loosely based on a KnockoutJS MVC framework and written in TypeScript, MM Gaia provides the framework for the site, which enabled GSD&M and MediaMonks to hit the ground running with a functional skeleton project.
