Anaïs Boileau, photographer

“A project about a seaside resort and commune along the Mediterranean Sea in southern France called La Grande-Motte, which was built in the 1970s to give middle-class French citizens a chance to go on a cheap vacation to an exotic place that wasn’t too far from their homes. I researched the social and formal aspects of such a city, mixing pictures that I found on the internet with old postcards of the city after construction. The architecture was designed to be very futuristic and exotic in order to contrast with the everyday homes of the commune’s visitors, so I imagined what my inspiration to build this place would be if I had been one of the architects.”
