Under the fading beam of a floodlight, African Elephants emerge from the darkness to drink at a dwindling waterhole during the height of the dry season. The elephants leave remnant stands of evergreen trees to drink at night thereby reducing water loss. These images were captured during a field assignment to Botswana and are archived in the National Geographic Image Collection for commercial use.
